How to Create or Claim Your Google Business Profile
What Is a Google Business Profile?
A Google Business Profile lets you manage how your business appears on Google Search and Maps. It helps customers find your business information and leave reviews.
Adding or claiming a profile is free. You will need a Google Account to manage it.
Is My Business Eligible?
Google Business Profiles generally serve businesses that meet customers in person, either at a physical business location or by traveling to customers.
Use accurate business information throughout setup.
If you travel to customers and do not receive them at your business address, follow Google’s service-area business instructions and hide your address from public view where appropriate.
Step 1: Check Whether Your Business Already Appears on Google
Search Google Maps for your business name and city before creating a new profile.
- If an unclaimed profile exists: Select the correct business, choose Claim this business, then follow Google’s instructions.
- If someone else already manages it: Follow Google’s ownership request process.
- If no profile exists: Continue with the steps below.
Claiming an existing profile helps avoid accidentally creating a duplicate listing.
Step 2: Add Your Business
Visit Google’s business setup page and sign in to the Google Account you want to use.
Follow Google’s prompts to enter your business information.
Have the following ready:
- Your business name as customers know it
- The category that best describes your business
- Your business address or service area
- Your phone number and other contact details
- Your website, if applicable
Review your information carefully before continuing.
Step 3: Complete Verification
Follow the verification instructions Google provides for your business.
Verification confirms that you are authorized to manage the profile.
The available verification methods can vary by business, so follow the instructions shown in your Google account.
Creating a profile and completing verification are separate parts of the process.
