Does Review⚡️Zaps Filter Reviews or Use Review Gating?
Does Review⚡️Zaps filter Google reviews?
No. Review⚡️Zaps NFC Products give customers access to the review link you save during setup. We do not screen customers based on their satisfaction, filter out negative feedback, or control which reviews Google publishes.
Customers decide what feedback to leave, and Google manages reviews on its platform.
What is review gating?
Review gating means screening customers before deciding who receives an invitation to post a public review.
For example, a service might ask customers to rate their experience first, then:
Send customers who select four or five stars to Google.
Send customers who select lower ratings to a private feedback form without offering the same opportunity to review on Google.
This selectively encourages positive public reviews and can give potential customers an incomplete picture of the business.
Is review gating allowed?
Google prohibits discouraging negative reviews or selectively requesting positive reviews. A service that directs only satisfied customers to Google conflicts with that policy. See Google’s review content policy.
Review gating can also create legal risks in the United States. The FTC explains that asking only customers expected to be happy for reviews can violate the FTC Act, even though its Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule does not specifically prohibit that practice in every instance. See the FTC’s review rule guidance.
Should I avoid services that advertise review gating?
Yes. We recommend avoiding services that promise to keep negative feedback off Google by screening customers before showing them your review link.
Look for a service that gives customers the same opportunity to share an honest review, regardless of whether their experience was positive or negative.
You can still collect private feedback and address customer concerns. The issue is using that feedback to decide who gets invited to leave a public review.
How can I report suspected deceptive review practices?
If you encounter a service advertising review manipulation or deceptive practices, you can report your concerns to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
Include the company’s name, its website, screenshots of the claims, and a factual description of how the service works. The agency can assess whether the conduct warrants action.
Outside the United States, contact your local consumer protection authority.
How should I ask customers for reviews?
Invite customers to share honest feedback about their experience without requiring a particular rating. Give them the same review link and let them decide what to write.
Review⚡️Zaps supports this straightforward approach by making your review page easier to access.
